Software Development Engineer in Test III

SmileDirectClub is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) III to help create the technology platform for an innovative B2C startup.  We are looking for bright, ambitious, and highly capable people that are able to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment while working with advanced technologies.

This is a remote-first position. Ideal candidates would be Tennessee-based or regional and available for occasional site visits in Nashville.

Responsibilities:

• Consistently designs, codes, and debugs test software (unit test/automation) that deliver results without direct supervision
• Demonstrates functional competence and growing expertise
• Has established credibility in meeting deadlines and delivering consistent results
• Analyzes code changes to develop test strategy
• Scope of responsibility includes software impacting one or more products / projects / processes or major portions of same
• Develops test automation for innovative software engineering / technical solutions and confirms designs meet design specifications
• Often participates in and reviews software estimates

• 2 – 6 years of experience developing test automation or combination of development and test automation
• Hands on experience in one or more major programming languages: Python, .Net, JAVA, C#, C++, etc.
• Master of core language/Technology's architecture and common third-party integrations
• Good understanding of object-oriented concepts
• Proficiency in database testing (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, etc)
• Experience with Automation frameworks design and development
• Hands on experience with test automation of APIs and SOAP/ REST services
• Hands-on experience of developing scripts, designing test scenarios, test execution, monitoring, analyzing results and reporting results
• Strong knowledge of QA methodology and tools, with demonstrated QA experience in a SDET role
• Hands on experience in: Selenium, QTP/UFT/LeanFT, Soap UI, or similar testing tools
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code in lower and testing environments (Terraform)
• Proficient with developer tools and IDEs, such as: Visual studio and Eclipse/Intellij
• Experience working with any source control such as: GitHub/TFS/Subversion
• Experience with APM/Logging Tools: DataDog, Sentry or New Relic
• Experience with unit, integration, performance, and security testing
• Knowledge of deployment automation, continuous integration, build automation tools (AWS Code Build/Code Pipeline, TFS, Jenkins, TeamCity, etc.)
• Effective communications with all stakeholders
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Conversant with Agile/Scrum/Kanban development methodology
